‘The Mummy’ returns: work has begun on a sequel to the franchise

Details of the plot and information about other members of the cast are not yet known. ‘The Mummy’ directed and written by Stephen Sommers was released in 1999, becoming a remake of the 1932 film of the same name. Despite mixed reviews, the film was a commercial success and collected worldwide more than 37 billion in rubles.

The film was followed by two sequels – ‘The Mummy Returns’ (2001) and ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ (2008). Also based on the film’s universe, a spin-off, The Scorpion King, followed in 2002.
