Immigrant jumping spiders have proliferated in Britain

Members of this genus can jump when they are hunting or trying to escape from a threat. According to Berry, they are adorable little creatures of brownish-white colour and pattern. Interestingly, the species is not native to Britain, and for some reason it has not previously been seen in the wild at all – even in its presumed homeland.

Over the past few years, many tropical species of spider species have been spotted in the UK, spreading thanks to climate change around the world and increased international trade. And invasive species often compete with native species.
